The Windows Desktop Support Technician will be the first point of contact for Norvax personnel seeking technical/systems assistance. They will serve as a member of the Operations group providing on-site support at the main and satellite offices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to provide first line desktop support and service for employees in Norvax offices in Chicago and Ohio.
  • Manage multiple Terminal Server installations, including user and session management.
  • Actively monitor the issue tracking system and address/resolve outstanding issues.
  • Assist in provisioning new users, including account, workstation and telephone system setup, and relocation of existing users.
  • Windows systems administration, including user creation and management in Active Directory, managing roaming profiles and configuring Windows software components.
  • To perform daily administrative tasks such as backup and server checks, and attending to printer/scanner issues.
  • Work with current vendors to place new orders and to receive technical support as necessary.

General Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft applications.
  • To be conversant with Ethernet cabling and patching, TCP/IP, basic routing including infrastructure such as switches, routers and firewalls.
  • Experience with thin client technologies
  • Virtualization experience with VMware is a plus
  • Capable of providing technical support in person and over the telephone.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability of providing solutions to problems that are identified.
  • Ability to handle constantly changing work flows.

Technical Requirements

All applicants should have experience in the following areas:

  • Windows Server 2003 or later
  • Microsoft Terminal Services/Session Directory
  • Windows XP, Vista & Windows 7
  • Active Directory
  • Exchange 2003 or later
  • Microsoft Office 2003 or later
  • TCP/IP Networking - switching, routing, patching, wireless and firewalls
  • Powershell programming experience advantageous but not essential
  • Avaya & Shoretel Phone Systems (IP Office/Voicemail Pro)
