Position Overview
Norvax, Inc. is a leading developer of Web-based sales and online
insurance marketing tools for the health insurance industry, helping
insurance brokers, agents and carriers connect with customers
and transact business more efficiently. From insurance websites
to insurance software and lead management tools, the Norvax product
suite lets insurance agents increase sales, cut administrative
time and reduce expenses.
Norvax is looking for a Senior Systems Analyst who will function as a Technical Lead on Norvax product or key product components. A successful Candidate will be completely accountable for gathering requirements, designing product/components, providing estimates, overseeing development, and deploying and monitoring the application in production. This role works closely with the department and product architects to ensure product/component developments meet business requirements, fit into our organizational product line, and are reliable and professional.
Responsibilities
- Work with systems engineers and product managers to flesh out product requirements.
- Create designs for features and major enhancements
- Provide development estimates for new features and enhancements
- Interview Prospective Candidates providing decision making feedback
- Training New Developers for your Product/Components
- Managing Mentoring Systems Analysis
- Understanding the business needs and drivers for the product/components you manage.
- Performing as the "lead developer" on the products/components you manage
- Enforcing departmental coding standards and best [practices for your product/component
- Performing thorough code reviews of all code
- Taking accountability for the performance and reliability of your product/components
- Making sure that all code is well written, well documented, and well-tested
- Communicating project status to the entire company
Job Specifications
- At Least 4 years of Java development experience.
- Experience installing and configuring a Java application (Tomcat, Resin, JRun, Websphere, WebLogic, etc.)
- At least 1 year of experience running application servers in a Linux environment
- Excellent Problem Solving Skills
- Ability to work alone or with others in a team.
- Experience Gathering requirements and performing basic project planning
- Experience with MySQL
- Experience with common open source frameworks (Struts, Apache, Spring, Hibernate, etc.)
- Experience writing design documents
